Fortaleza – CE

The administrative building for Ypióca, a company from Ceará founded in 1847, has been conceived to satisfy two requirements: the construction of a building to house activities of management and industrial production control and a symbolic landmark to reflect the distinguished position of the company in the Brazilian and international markets of distilled beverage alcohol.

The building consists fundamentally of two well-defined volumes: the cylinder, a shape inspired in wooden barrels used for fermentation of spirits, was entirely lined with aluminum frames and glass, serving as an internal atrium and structural support for the helipad; and the triangular prism, marked by alternating filled and empty spaces, thus allowing more formal freedom for structuring the internal environments, and varied ways to view the building depending on wherer the observer is.
